We believe financial planning should be about so much more than investment management.

Laying the keel is the initial step in constructing a ship, just as crafting your robust, comprehensive financial plan that looks at your needs, desires, goals, ambitions, and challenges as a complete picture is the initial step in building and protecting your wealth. We create the foundation for our clients’ financial success and then support them as they navigate toward their biggest goals.

At WealthKeel, we believe a few important things about the financial planning process that most other firms don’t:

1

Financial planning should be more than just giving you investment advice.

2

Your most critical need for professional financial planning comes before you reach 50 - because that’s when you’re making most of your significant financial decisions.

3

You deserve excellent financial advice no matter your age or how much money you have invested.

WHAT IS TRUE FINANCIAL PLANNING?

WealthKeel was founded because we know the power of true financial planning, and we are passionate about helping others. That means we dig into your cash flow to fully understand what’s coming in and what’s going out - and what resources are available to help you build an original blueprint for the life you want.

We’ll also look at building and following a budget, creating a strategy for your debt repayment, deciding the best way to buy your next home or car, talking through your goals, and more. Yes, that includes investment management. But that’s not the only thing, and it’s certainly not the first topic of conversation.

Most importantly, we’re here to navigate the waters with you, and be there for the numerous course corrections you might need to make along the way to success.

We Prefer to Skip the Jargon

We strive to make the complex world of finance simple and easy to understand, so you can get a solid strategy, know exactly what steps to take, and then get on with the rest of your life (instead of trying to puzzle through pages of reports just to get a simple answer).

No Hidden Fees Here

Transparency is an important value to us, and it’s a standard that we hold ourselves accountable to at every step in the process. You can see transparency at work in our straightforward fees and the fact that we only get paid for the services we provide for you - we don’t push products or focus on selling you anything you don’t actually need.

Built for Your Stage of Life

Most financial planners focus on working with people who are reaching retirement and have already banked more than a million bucks. That’s all well and good -- but we designed our business and our services to meet the specific needs and challenges of people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s. We understand your goals and we know the strategies that will help you reach them.

Meet the Crew

The WealthKeel Financial Planning Process

Here’s what it looks like for us to work together so you can get your custom-crafted financial plan, created by a Certified Financial Planner™:

Step 1: Breaking the Ice

Don’t commit to working with any advisor before you get a chance to learn more about them and see if you get a good vibe. That’s what our initial icebreaker call is for. We’ll have a casual conversation to learn more about what you want to achieve -- and to give you a chance to ask questions, get answers, and walk away with the details you need before making any decisions.

Step 2: Getting Organized in the Discovery Phase

Once you become a WealthKeel client, the planning process starts with your first Discovery meeting. Here, we’ll get detailed and define your goals. We’ll also gather some information to understand where you are so we can chart a course to where you want to be. You’ll get a chance to get started in our exclusive client portal and we’ll help you get your financial life organized so we get a great birds-eye-view of the big picture.

Step 3: Crafting Your Financial Plan

We get to work custom-crafting your financial plan based on the documents, information, and ideas you share. This is all about you: your needs, priorities, desired outcomes, goals, and more. After the Discovery phase, we crunch the numbers to craft your plan (minus the technical jargon). The result: a few pages actionable items that are easy to digest and keep organized.

Step 4: Designing Your Blueprint

A ship’s blueprint serves as a model or a guide for its design when shipbuilders start crafting each piece. In the same way, your plan is like your financial blueprint that you can work from as you start taking the specific, strategic actions required to reach your goals. Together, we’ll work through your plan, answer all your questions, and give you guidance at every turn.

Step 5: Embarking on Your Journey

At this stage in the process, we’re actively working on to-dos for you or with you. Each of us will be responsible for different items, and we’ll help hold you accountable to the actions you need to take. But we’ll sail right alongside, making sure you understand the pros and cons of every choice you make so you can choose the best option for you each time.

Step 6: Sailing into Your Harbor

All ships return to a harbor for protection, scheduled maintenance, and periodic upgrades and fixes. That is the role of our regularly scheduled review meetings. We don’t need to rebuild the boat; we just make sure everything is in good shape and resolve any problems that may arise. The goal of the harbor is to protect you from the rough waters and make sure you are still tracking in the right direction toward your goals.
